Union Pacific North (UP-N)
The Metra is a quick and easy way to access Chicago. The Pacific North Metra line runs from Chicago’s Ogilvie train station to Kenosha, Wisconsin. There are 26 stations along the way, many of which are in North Shore neighborhoods.
Neighborhoods like Highland Park, Glencoe, Winnetka, Kenilworth, Wilmette, and Evanston have a Metra station in town. Train service runs every hour for these communities during the week. Weekend train rides are available with hourly service.
Milwaukee District North (M-DN)
The Milwaukee District North line runs from Chicago’s Union Station to Fox Lake, Illinois. Residents in nearby communities such as Glenview, Northbrook, and Deerfield can access convenient Metra train stations.
Riders can choose a daily ticket, a weekend pass, or a monthly pass to ride the Metra. Train service runs every hour during the week. Weekend service is available about every hour.
CTA Purple Line
The CTA purple line is a rapid “L” train with direct access to downtown Chicago. The purple line normally runs from Wilmette’s Linden stop to Chicago’s Howard stop. During the week, residents can take a Purple Line Express train all the way to downtown Chicago, with a first stops at Wilson and then Belmont.
Purple express trains make Chicago a quick half-hour destination. Riders can also easily transfer to the CTA’s red line from the Howard stop. From Wrigley Field to the Loop, the local travel possibilities are endless!
